The following shows how to configure the ICQ program with Wingate :
Here are the requirements before reading on :
First you need to know that the Socks 5 proxy service default is 1080, then follow the steps below.
1. In the ICQ window, click on the [ICQ button]
2. Click on [Preferences]
3. Click on the [Connection] tab
4. Select [I am using a permanent connection (LAN)]
5. Then select [I am behind a firewall or Proxy]
6. Click on the [firewall settings] button
7. Select [I am using a SOCKS 5 Proxy server]
8. Click the [Next] button
9. Enter the IP address of your Wingate machine ( normally
192.168.0.1 )
10. Enter the port that Wingate's SOCKS proxy is using (normally
1080)
11. Do not configure a SOCKS password
12. Click the [Next] button
13. Press the [Test Firewall Connection] button
14. It should respond with [success]
15. The rest of ICQ setup does not relate to Wingate
If you have problems with ICQ, you need to confirm your DNS
configuration. If DNS is not configured correctly you might be
able to browse on the Internet, but ICQ will never work.
