Can we talk?
- Don't talk to me about dimples being the fact that someone changed their mind. I know how officials told election workers not to clean the machines. The chads built up and there was no way in the world that they could be properly dislodged.
- Don't tell me that thousands of people went to the polls to elect a county clerk and didn't vote for President of the United States.
- Don't tell me that the throngs of minorities, holocaust survivors and their relatives went in there to deliberately vote for Pat Buchanan (as the Florida Republicans did today on C-SPAN).
- Let's hear about the six Republican counties that had a hand recount and garnered an additional 400 votes for Bush. Where was the outrage in the Bush camp over hand recounts there?
- Let's hear about the police "safety checks" in predominantly minority neighborhoods.
- Let's hear about polling places in predominantly minority neighborhoods being demolished without notification.
- Let's hear about minority males being falsely accused of being felons and told that they could not vote.
- Let's hear about the ballots that were already punched when the voters received them.
- Let's hear about missing ballot boxes that mysteriously appear in hotels.
- Let's hear about the demand for voting ID in predominantly minority neighborhoods that wasn't demanded in Republican counties.
- Let's hear about people that have been voting at the same location for years, but this year the polling place was changed to a firehouse with a tiny parking lot and they had to wait in their car for hours to vote, if they made it in in time.
- Let's hear about the voter registrations that didn't get processed.
- Let's hear about the voter lists at the polling places where people were kept from voting because the state had made a "mistake" in their middle initial on the voter registration card.
- Let's hear about Creole speaking Haitian-Americans mocked for requesting help with their ballots.
- Let's hear about people standing in line at poll closing time not being allowed to vote.
- Let's hear about computer glitches that temporarily gave a Socialist Party candidate 9,000 votes, and Gore negative 16,000.
- Let's hear about the forgotten ballot bag that emerged from a poll worker's trunk.
- Let's hear about the the three bags that emerged from the vaults without their tamper-proof seals intact when they were starting the recount.
- Let's hear about how counties simply placed the memory cards back into the machines for the recount instead of actually performing the recount.
- Let's hear about Republicans willing to subvert state law with federal courts. What hypocracy.
- Let's hear about Republicans using fuzzy math to claim that there were 14,872 ballots disqualified in Palm Beach County in 1996 and saying it compares favorably to the 19,000 overvote in 2000, forgetting to tell people that that was an aggregate total, both overvote and undervote.
- Let's hear how Governor Bush signed into law himself a 1997 Texas law stating that manual recounts are more accurate - and how numerous hand-counts have been going on in Texas all this time.
- Let's hear about why 27,000 votes, which represented 31% of the votes cast were thrown out in in the four minority districts of Republican Duval county. Where 9,417 people who voted for a Senate Candidate simply didn't vote for President.
