Hello!!! Welcome to my webpage.
I am a Malaysian, 34 years of age. Kuala Lumpur, the capital city of Malaysia, has been my home since birth.
I received my Bachelor and Master degrees in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville (UTK) in May 1996 and May 1998, respectively. UTK is the largest university in the state of Tennessee, in southeast United States. My undergraduate studies was concentrated in Electronics. I started my graduate studies in August 1996 under the guidance of Professor J. Douglas Birdwell. My graduate coursework was in Control Systems, however my research thesis was in the area of Information Technology, more specifically, Internet videoconferencing. My thesis is entitled "Improved Encoding and Control Algorithms for the IVS Videoconferencing Software".
While pursuing my graduate studies, I worked as a Graduate Research Assistant in the Laboratory for Information Technologies (LIT) for 1 1/4 years, and as a Graduate Teaching Assistant with the Department of Electrical Engineering for 5 months. My primary responsibility at LIT was to conduct research on Internet videoconferencing technology. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant, I was the lab instructor for the EE312 (Linear System Analysis) and EE412 (Linear Control System Design) lab sessions.
As a scholar, I have received numerous academic awards. The highlights are two nationally recognized awards - the All-American Scholars Award and the National Collegiate Engineering Award. In addition, I have received the Outstanding Sophomore (in 1995) and Outstanding Senior (in 1996) awards for outstanding academic performance from Department of Electrical Engineering.
Upon completing my studies, I worked as a Firmware Engineer developing embedded devices. At present, I'm an R&D Engineer with a local computer telephony company.
