Measuring the momentum of fluorine and carbon atoms in Liquid and
solid C2F6(Hexanfluoroethane,
or Freon 116)
from 180 K to 20 K. Observed a orientational order/disorder
transition at about 103 K.
Data analyzing was done by using FORTRAN programs in GENIE enviroment
A LakeShore model DRC-93CA
temperature controller was used for temperature control and
measurement. It was interface with PC through A NI-488.2 GPID board
manufactured by National Instrument
. Interface programs were written in C++ or Basic under National Instrument'sLabWindows/CVI enviroment.
We also tried to apply high pressure (150 atmosphere) on our sample to see if lattice parameter would change.
Two stepping motors were used to move a photomultiplier for light detecting. We used 2 chopper driver to move these two motors. They interface a PC through a controller board. The program that control stepping motors was written in Basic.
Finally, we used a NI-DAQ board for data acquisition. It was manufactured by National Instrument. Program that interfaced it to a PC was written in C++, also under LabWindows enviroment.
