NTPopup is a small hack written to supply a 'WinPopup'-like program for NT. Since Popup messages are displayed automatically under NT (when you run the Messenger service), NTPopup only contains the sending part of the program.
If you don't know what WinPopup is (or you never needed to use it), you probably don't need NTPopup (you must NOT use it under Windows 95, if you do, do not tell me that it doesn't work, I know that, use WinPopup instead)
(Note: What NTPopup does is convert your entered values into a call to NET SEND)

Click here to download NTPopup. (Updated 21/11/97) or click here for the German language version. After downloading unzip the .EXE into a directory in your path. If you don't have the files VBRUN300.dll and THREED.VBX in your %WINNT%\SYSTEM (not SYSTEM32) directory, get them from Microsoft .
Yes, but what about the 32-bit version?
Yes, I know, you've all been gnashing your teeth for the 32-bit version. Well the bad news it is still not available for public download, but the good news is that if you want to beta test it you can contact me (requires VB5 SP3 files). Among the new features it supports are:
Any character you can type, I can send (this is very important for non-english alphabets),
real error messages (with the ability to lookup error messages for more detailed descriptions),
simple sent message history browser (a la ICQ).
Address Book with Group Aliases (so you can send to multiple recipients)
The great news is that in Version 3 (the next version will be version 2), NTPopup will at last be able to receive Popup messages (Yes, I got it right - but its too unstable at the moment to be released - even into beta - lets call it pre-alpha code). That creates a lot of opportunities for me - such as sending rich text or html-text. If you have any ideas about version 3 please feel free to contact me,
If you have any praise, insults, bug reports, feedback, etc, concerning NTPopup email me with a subject of 'NTPopup'.
NTPopup is postcardware (which means its free but if you like it and you use it, I wouldn't mind an email message from you). If you're interested, here's the source code (you know what to do!) PS I WILL NOT ANSWER ANY QUESTIONS ABOUT THE SOURCE CODE.
