He married Barbara Shaddy 20 FEB 1861. (Barbara Shaddy is #430.) Barbara was born 20 JUN 1834. Barbara was the daughter of Emsley Shaddy and Polly Leap. Barbara died 7 JUN 1885 at 50 years of age. Barbara became the mother of Elizabeth Cotton 4 Aug 1862.

William became the father of Elizabeth Cotton 4 Aug 1862.

William Cotton and Barbara Shaddy had the following children:

2 i. Elizabeth² Cotton (#483) was born 4 Aug 1862. She married Josiah Orem. (Josiah Orem is #1105.) Josiah was born 22 MAY 1858. At 25 years of age Josiah became the father of Roy Orem 21 NOV 1883. At 28 years of age Josiah became the father of Clyde E. Orem 13 MAR 1887. At 34 years of age Josiah became the father of James W. Orem 29 SEP 1892. At 38 years of age Josiah became the father of Albert Roy Orem 10 JAN 1897. At 40 years of age Josiah became the father of Stanley K. Orem 9 SEP 1898. Elizabeth became the mother of Roy Orem 21 NOV 1883. Elizabeth became the mother of Clyde E. Orem 13 MAR 1887. Elizabeth became the mother of James W. Orem 29 SEP 1892. Elizabeth became the mother of Albert Roy Orem 10 JAN 1897. Elizabeth became the mother of Stanley K. Orem 9 SEP 1898.

3 ii. Mary C. Cotton (#484). She married Arthur H. Lock. (Arthur H. Lock is #1117.) Arthur became the father of Austin Lock 6 MAY 1885. (See Arthur H. Lock for the continuation of this line.)

Mary became the mother of Austin Lock 6 MAY 1885.

4 iii. Clarissa (Clara) Cotton (#485).
