James Canter
LYNNVILLE, Ky.--Services for James W. Canter, 77, of Lynnville will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Byrn Funeral Home in Mayfield with Dr. Michael Elliott and James D. Lee officiating. Burial with military rites will be in Lynnville Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mr. Canter died at 4:10 p.m. Wednesday at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.
A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he received the Bronze Star. He was a lifelong farmer in Lynnville and a member of Lynnville United Methodist Church and Cuba Masonic Lodge No. 644.
Surviving are his wife of 56 years, Manon Waldrop Canter; two daughters, Phyllis Kelley of South Fulton, Tenn., and Deana Lee of Lynnville; four sisters, Mildred Burnett of Sedalia, Maxine West of Tri City, and Sue West and Wanda Williams, both of Mayfield; four grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers; three nephews; and one niece. His parents were Charlie F. and Dulcie Wiggins Canter.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home, where Masonic rites will be conducted at 7.
