Kayak & oyster taste details Tomales Bay Kayak Adventure This is a one day kayaking adventure on Tomales Bay, a kayaker's paradise. This 15-mile long estuary offers numerous protected coves to explore, secluded white sandy beaches and is a sanctuary for many birds, harbor seals and a variety of other marine life. The pristine waters produce some of the country's finest oysters. The adventure is a great introduction to sea kayaking. Take an Oyster to Happy Hour! This trip combines a paddle on beautiful Tomales Bay with a culinary sampling of the Bay's famous shellfish. After a full day of paddling, we ended with an Oyster BBQ on the beach. On this trip, we were in double kayaks. There was a basic paddling instruction prior to launching. Lunch while on the water, paddles and life jackets were provided. Date: May 31, 1998 Time: 8:45 a.m. (dirctions below) - 4:00 p.m. What to bring: For this trip, we're planning on staying dry. However, there is always a certain amount of "splash and drip" associated with kayaking. Your wrists, feet and seat are most prone to this incidental moisture. * Windbreaker or paddling jacket. * A synthetic or wool shirt or sweater. Capilene is best. No cotton-it will not keep you warm once wet. * Bathing suit or shorts. * Footwear that can get wet-neoprene booties, river sandals, or sneakers with or without wool socks. * Visor, sunscreen (SPF 30 recommended), lip balm, sunglasses with retention strap and brimmed hat with retention strap (so it won't get blown off your head). * Full water bottle. * Towel and a change of clothes and footwear for traveling home. * Binoculars and waterproof camera.
