Subspace

S ubspace's slogan is "Meet people around the world... then kill them". No, this game is not about meeting friends =P, however it does happen sometimes. All pictures are copyrighted by VIE, if I shouldn't have them on here, please notify me asap. Thanx!

The Game Itself:
O k, I'm going to make this nice and quick. Subspace is a real-time online game that allows tons of people to play at the same time. The game resembles everyone's favorite classic, Astroids (of course, the new and improved version). The game uses
A Leviathan, up close
and personal (doesn't
look this good in the game)
a top down view and has many arenas to host different scenarios. Subspace started out a few years ago free of charge in a beta version (for a long time too). But now it costs roughly 20 bucks and lots has changed in that time. Before, all the zones were run by VIE and there were only that many different ones u could choose from. Now, VIE has allowed anyone to host their own zones and create their own scenarios. Some of the original zones include Alpha, Chaos and War. The new zones include War (altered settings - superships), dueling, racing, and even star wars battle!

My File:
F irst of all, I never was, am, or will be a distinguished pilot in subspace. When I first started the game, I played under the name zone-k. I can remember playing in Alpha and Chaos with several of my friends. I found simply flying around and shooting at others really fun at the time (as you can see, online gaming was very new at the time). In Alpha, I probably played the most with Sniper17 (or was it Sniper16?). Anyways, were were two very skill-less pilots who always teamed up on a single pilot. Though it was cheap, we did get our share of kills that way. However, Sniper retired from the game very early and that was it for him (he'll come back, don't worry). Another pilot i flew along was vortex999. I can remember flying with vortex and Paladin.K in Alpha and we team up on other pilots. Eventually, vortex got tired of the game and moved on to bigger and better games =). The guy I played this game most with has to be Paladin.K. I think both of us have played this game for roughly 2 years. Anyways, more about him later. I also played with WingZ Max but only once. Another friend that plays this game is Kukoc7 but I've never seen him on.

I really started getting addicted to this game when I joined War Zone. I've always loved team games and this one was no exception. To sum it up, each team has 10 pilots. The arena has 8 flags and the first
The Warbird
team to capture all 8 flags wins. I played War Zone up until May of 1998. At that time, I thought the game was taking up too much of my time so I quit (delete) the game to concentrate on school. Ironically, my grades dropped slightly after I quit. I started playing again the summer of 1998 but many things had changed. First of all, I noticed everyone's skill in warzone had improved. Another thing was a lot of the guys I played with no longer played so I had trouble getting onto flagging freqs. Eventually, (along with Paladin.K, I joined a squad called -New Dawn- and I was able to get on freqs again and all was fun. But the lag factor came into play. I don't know why but I was lagging big time in the game. Enough so that I was getting kicked to spectator mode every 5 minutes because my "latency" was too high. So what did I do, I quit the game once again. All I can say is this game is highly addictive, but I got saved by the lag =) As for the rest of my friends, Paladin.K is still playing and doing well in Warzone, Kukoc7 now plays Hockey Zone and Sniper has recently fired up the game again!
