Buddhism Dictionary

Perhaps we have too many words and too many dictionaries that deter us from meditative progress. We make our perception and translation too complicated. If we know the language of mind then words and dictionaries will not be important any more.

In the first step of meditating, there are only two words: “body” and “mind”. Meditator should find himself that means he should locate his physical body (1). After he can control his body and balance his body internally, he then shift to his mind.

After he can enter his mind, there are other two words: “happiness” and “suffering”. He should know his feeling at that moment whether he is happy or suffering or not-happy-and-not-suffering (2). Then before he enters to his mind deeper, he should learn how his sensory organs generate the feeling of happiness and suffering. This step is the learning of the interaction between the body and the mind.

Next three words are related with thoughts: lustful, hating, and deluded temperament (3). He should notice his thought then search for the cause of the cause of his thought (4) in order to end the causes.

Actually while meditator is in meditative state, he does not need dictionary. After he finishes his meditating, then he opens the dictionary to explain his meditative experiences into wordings. Buddhism dictionary may need only one page.

(1) = Kaya, (2) = Vedana, (3) = Citta, (4) = Dhamma in Satipatthana sutta

(1) to (4) = External to internal

(1) to (4) = Materiality to mentality

(1) to (4) = Crudeness to refiner

(1) to (4) = Convention to liberation

Proof of Rebirth, Reincarnation, and Realms

Buddhist meditation uses visualizing technique in proving of rebirth and reincarnation. Meditator needs the third eye to see the past and the future of himself and everyone. The Threefold Knowledge; reminiscence of past lives, knowledge of the decease and rebirth of beings and knowledge of the destruction of mental intoxication; is very important for every curious and skeptic Buddhists. With the Threefold Knowledge, the meditator will be able to understand the law of karma then he should be able to detach from attachments. I am just a beginner who is practicing this technique and would like to share the technique to everyone. I am not fortuneteller and it is prohibited to show off this supernatural.

1. Meditate as usual as deep as you can. You can use many kinds of your practice to meditate.

2. Return to normal state then make a wish whether you want to see previous life, next life, or in any period of time. It is better to recall recently past such as yesterday then the day before backward little by little. Try to recall the first day you went to school, the first day you could dress yourself, the first day you could talk, the first day you were born, the first day you were fertilized, then the day before this life.

3. After you have made the wish, then you must use an object to visualize. You may visualize the color (red, green, yellow, and white), the light, or a clear crystal ball. This practice is called as Kasina. Keep visualizing this picture in your mind until you can see it clearly as you see with open eyes. You must try to move and resize the visualized object as your wish. Then you must focus at this object until it is brightened.

4. Make a wish as in the second step and meditate as deep as you can with the visualized object. Then return to the normal state.

5. Make a wish that the brightened object should be disappeared and let you see the past or future. The picture you see will be as bright and clear only as your visualized object. So it is better to practice visualizing technique until you can see clearly and keep seeing it as long as you wish before progress to see the past and future.

6. After you can see your life then you can see other lifes. You can proof the existence of upper and lower realm. You can talk to them also.

I have to warn you not to show off and not to believe the picture you see entirely. Another method is by asking other such as the Buddha to tell your past and future. One way to check the picture you see is by crosscheck with other meditators whether you have seen the same. Do not attach to this knowledge because the third knowledge is the most important that is the knowledge of the destruction of mental intoxication.

For further reference, please use these words for searching: kasina, kasin, jhana, pubbenivasanussati-nana, cutupapata-nana, and asavakkhaya-nana.

Hope this helps answering topics of reincarnation, rebirth, and realms. If you ask these questions, you have to proof it by yourself. The practice is here.
