SCIENCE CAMP, 2008
Teachers
Have an experienced  scientist visit your classroom!
Teachers: Why should your students be the only ones to have fun at camp this summer?
CLASS NOTES
From the "Green Genes" genetics activity
What: "Physical Science for Elementary and Middle Level Teachers"

FCPS link:

When: Not yet scheduled

Where: Explorium of Lexington (Children's Museum), Victorian Square, Lexington KY

Cost: Free!  Also includes several make-n-take items.

Standards: Kentucky Core Content for Assessment Physical Science Standards

Topics: Light, heat, electricity, magnetism, sound, energy, forces & motion, gravity, more...

How do I enroll? Please provide us with some information and we'll be in touch soon.  To better address the individual needs of particpants, class size is limited.

What will I learn?
Why do you need a closed circuit for electricity to work?  Why does a liquid take the shape of its container?  How do airplanes fly?  Why do ships float?  How does light travel?  What happens to matter when it's 320F below zero?  How does a speaker use electricity to make sound?  What happens to marshmallows in a place without air?  What's the difference between pitch and volume?  How does gravity work?

Not just another "hands on" seminar, we'll cover the fundamentals behind what you're teaching your kids.  You'll be better prepared and more confident when answering students' questions and learn many clever,
new ideas for getting them excited while also effectively getting your teaching points across.

Geared directly toward Kentucky's science standards, one past participant called this program "One of the few professional development opportunities that's
really worth the time spent!"
