PUBLISHED FORTNIGHTLY AT WILTON, CONNECTICUT . BY THE WILTON ASSOCIATION Editor: G . Evans Hubbard • P . O . Box 374 . Wilton . Conn . Subscription 31 per year CORRESPONDENCE Vol . I, Wilton Bulletin . Gentlemen: April 7 . 1937 Speaking under - The Good of Wilton ... There have been some very fine improvements made in Wilton - the school . the town hall and the improve - ments covering the grading, drainage and surfacing of the back or less frequented highways - all very commendable, with the school and the town hall a credit to the town, the architects and the builders . Hwever, as an all - year - round commuter for the past 13 years who has used, twice daily, the bridge that crosses the river at the station . - This Darling Little Antique - defies improvement . The narrow - ness of this bridge is a serious menace to life and limb of a motorist and particularly so to a pedes - trian With the increased motor traffic that has come upon Wilton Station in the last five years, some - thing should and must be done about this bridge . Too bad this isn't a covered bridge, or it might then be sold to Henry Ford for his New England Village . and the proceeds used to replace the existing men - ace with something equal to the present demands required of it . Dolling up the Village Center seems to be in order . . why cannot one or two street lights he in - stalled on the short piece of roadway between the station and the Center . It is quite an experience, corning from the trains . during the dark Winter evenings with several inches, of slush . t . walk this roadway and not he able to See where you are tie, ping . This roadway is much too nairow, and, with motor cars coming at you horn front and behind . one is sprayed with water and slush as they pass . Some consideration by the town should be given these minor, but very essential and necessary im - provements . Yours very truly . Thomas R . li . Murphy .
