ABOUT THE LOCATION

Memphis, Tennessee was chosen as the site for the CUIC inauguration for several reasons, including its central location and the fact that it is the headquarters of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church, one of the CUIC member churches. Perhaps most importantly, Memphis is closely associated with the Civil Rights Movement and the ministry of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Participants in the inauguration will be able to celebrate Martin Luther King, Jr. Day in Memphis as a public sign of their determination to fight racism together.

The inaugural worship service will be held at Mt. Olive Cathedral Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Mt. Olive Cathedral, led by The Reverend Dr. Stevie Wilburn, is a downtown congregation with an interesting history of fellowship and mission.
