Steven Seagal is a police officer who has a bad habit of taking the law into his own hands in order to punish the guilty, and DMX is a gangster with a million dollars of money saved up and he has an interest in buying drugs. Both of these men uncover a conspiracy that involves crooked cops selling heroin. There's plenty of action, fight sequences, and plot twists in this movie to keep you on the edge of your seat. Steven Seagal and DMX both do a good job at kicking some a$$!

Li plays Han Sing who escapes a Hong Kong prison to avenge the death of his younger brother in America. The fight scenes, though nothing compared to his Hong Kong movies, wasn't bad, better than most American martial arts films. Aaliyah in her first and last starring role played Trish O'Day superbly and I was saddened to hear of her death in the Bahamas. Rest in peace Aaliyah.

Centered around two best friends, explores their growth apart and there eventual redemption when they step back from the life they have lived and gain some knowledge of self. The violence and callousness of the characters is the foundation for the greatest of contrasts. The absence of the value of life to the understanding of the importance of all life. Very good performances from first timers DMX and Nas, as well as amazing cinematography and lighting place this film in a whole different category than Boys in the Hood and Menace II Society.
