  LMS Project (06/98 - present): Current assignment at Kaiser: using Java 1.0 to extract data from multiple SQL Server 6.5 databases to populate a single large database. Ancillary duties include using SAS to extract data, write reports, create mailing labels, derive counts, etc. from a sequential master file.

  LORIS Project (10/97 - 05/98): participated on development team for a Java based intra-net system for Marketing support. Used Visual J++ for Java development. Attended in-house Java training. Attended a series of 3 Java classes at UCLA extension. Used Java generated HTML and Java Script as a graphical user interface (GUI). Used IIS web server software and SQL Server 6.5 for database. Developed several non-visual (batch) Java classes.

  Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) (09/96 - 10/97): Upgraded translation software from EDI Solutions to Data Interchange (DI) for transaction set 832. Created universal empty file checking. Created in-boxing JCL strategy. Created multiple trading partner transaction set 832 reconciliation processing. Created universal data slicing and un-slicing for transmission over 80 byte transmission links. Created programs to separate out ANSI X12 data by trading partner, transaction set number, or both.

  Direct Pay Support and Enhancements (05/95 - 09/96): Functioned as project leader and senior technical designer to support implemented KEFT system and Direct Pay system. Coordinated and directed other programmers. Developed and oversaw work schedules. Provided quality control and technical assistance to other programmers.

  Kaiser Electronic Funds Transfer (KEFT) project (05/94 - 05/95): Functioned as project leader to develop an Electronic Funds Transfer system. Coordinated batch, on-line, and systems programmers. Designed and coded critical functions. Met with personnel from bank. Researched possible software vendor alternatives. Met with internal client to obtain requirements. Developed all batch specifications and some on-line specifications. Developed and oversaw work schedules. Made project presentations to internal client. Provided training to Membership Accounting Department personnel. Provided quality control and technical assistance to other programmers.

  Other technical work at Kaiser includes: Developing several on-line functions using the IEF CASE tool. Developing a new batch COBOL reconciliation system for checks from member groups.   Main project worked on: AMAPS Version 320 System Enhancements. Designed, Coded, Tested, and Implemented a series of IMS Batch COBOL programs to populate, depopulate, and report on the contents of Teledyne's Manufacturing Database System (AMAPS) as part of an enhancement project. All code was written to user specifications. Position required heavy user interface and coordination with other programmers, contractors, and departments.

  Acting Lead Programmer of four person Home Owner's Insurance Group. Coordinated and facilitated systems maintenance, enhancements, and new development of all Home Owner's, Boat Owner's, and Mobile Home Owner's lines of personal insurance. Position required heavy interaction with different user groups, programming groups, and outside individuals.

  Representative development project: Florida State Personal Auto Insurance Reporting. Analyzed, Designed, Coded, Tested, Implemented, and Documented a system to report to the state of Florida all auto insurance policies (initial load) and all material changes (ongoing) inforce. Required interface with Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles personnel.

  Other work at Transamerica included: CICS maintenance of an on-line/batch editing system, On-call resource person, and PC workstation (Microfocus COBOL on IBM PS/2’s) implementation project coordinator for the Personal Lines group.
