Well, my name is Dan. I'm originally from eastern (Downeast) Maine, however I drifted away. Hence, why I am the "Downeast Drifter". I work several types of jobs. Retail, sales, detailer, build webpages, and repair computers. I like to go to the bars, 4-wheel, hike, bike, fish, camp, listen to music of all sorts, humor, playing ping pong, working out, watching movies, swimming, walking, playing pool, and traveling. I'm pretty outgoing and quite conversational if you get me going on the right subject. I like to speak my mind but usually know when to sit back and shut up too. I can be both down to earth or in the middle of a hard rock concert. I don't smoke or do drugs. Just tipping the bottle from time to time. I'm a pretty ambitious, outgoing, and motivated person. Meaning that I basically push my foot steps rather than drag them. I look at the glass as half full, not half empty. Life is a gift which doesn't last forever so I try to enjoy it while it lasts.~ FRIENDS ~
I'm not overly picky about who I have/meet for friends. I'll just say what I don't care for in a friend cause that makes a much much shorter list. I don't care for users, abusers, people who talk behind other people's back (FYI: I think that if you have something to say, whether bad or good, about someone to somebody else, it oughta be something you dare say to their face. Otherwise, say nothing and keep it to yourself!), people who are miserable a lot more than when they are happy, stalkers, people with bad tempers, people who resort to physical violence, and well that's about all I can think of at the moment. Whether I forgot something or not, you get the idea of my dislikes about people.~ POTENTIAL MATES ~
Who would I like Mrs. Right to be like? Well, here goes my shallow view. I know a lot of women complain that you should simply consider the inner beauty but you know what? Even if it's slight, there just has to be some physical attraction. Facial features, hair length/color, legs, rear end, hands, eyes, total body shape, and/or the way she moves. There just has to be some look to a girl that grabs my full attention. Of course a great personality and similar interests do go a long ways too. I'm not saying that a person can only fall in love with the inside but if there isn't any attraction on the outside, how long can you go without thoughts of somebody else being out there who has the same character traits along with the looks? Let's be realistic and honest. We're only human and instinctively we need beauty at times as a whole and not just inside or outside. You'd be in some state of agony if you didn't have that. All, you'd do is feel that you made a mistake. Assuming you are an honest person, you'd tell this truth to the one you're with and only end up hurting her and yourself for doing such a terrible thing. So, I say be picky and make the right decisions the first time. To be fair in what I say, finding a very attractive person without much intelligence is just as important as being picky about brains without looks. Continuing with my shallow view, I'd go out with a girl taller than me but I prefer under. Ummmmm, NO ONE UNDER 18! As for over, I'd prefer no older than myself but I'd go further depending on the circumstances. Ultimately, I don't really looking for the "official" terms (girlfriend or relationship). I've got girls who are friends and relationships with my friends and family. I look for partners who would become my soul mate. The largest extention of a friendship there is. My absolute best friend in the whole world. I think a lot of us today get way to caught up in the words "boyfriend", "girlfriend", and "relationship" that we tend to forget the simplicity of what being a couple is all about which is EVERLASTING FRIENDSHIP!My perception of an ideal relationship are humor, happiness, companionship, building up to eventual everlasting trust, suprises, helping each other in need, understanding, compromises, and even trying something new or something that you may have not liked before that your partner likes now (FYI: different foods, an activitiy, a TV show). The one single thing I've learned from in my past relationships is to be yourself. You'd be living a lie if you don't. If people can't except your personaltiy, they are extremely closed-minded and aren't worth the privilege of your time. Also be honest. If you always tell the truth, you'll never have to try to remember what you lied about. Plus you'd always have confidence in what you say, even if it's the cold hard truth about something bad.

True Facts...
I met former Governor King in 1994 and
again in 1995 through JMG.
Bought an Old Town canoe that was used
in a Steven King film back in 1991.
(Never did find out which movie it was
actually in unfortunately)
When I was about 8 years old, I was on a
bicycle ride with my parents. At the
time, I had a pet turtle and I had
taken it with me in a bag I kept hanging
around the handle bars. We got going
down a hill and I was paying all my attention
to my turtle. At 20MPH, I looked up and hit
a mailbox chin first and fell off my bike.
(clothesline style) After my folks checked
on me to make sure I was still alive, all I
cared about was if the turtle was alright.
I was born on Valentine's Day.
I've traveled to Asia (Taiwan, S. Korea,
& China) back in 1992.
I was student of the month of my high
school in November of 1994.
I graduated high school in 1996.
I was chased by a mother of a black bear
cub back in 1993 when I was 4-wheeling
in the woods one time.
I know how to juggle three objects.
I've watched a lightening bolt strike
a river a quarter of a mile from
my house with me witnessing the huge
splash of the water after the strike
back in the late 1980s.
I went to Northeast Technical Institute in
1997 for Computer Repair/Programming and
again in 2001 for Web Design/Development
(Both times were in Scarborough)
I wiped out on my skateboard after going
down a hill too fast, hitting dirt. I
flew about 15 feet forward scraping the
pavement head first back in 1990.
