My name is John Bardeen, an American physicist and Nobel laureate, my first Nobel prize in 1956 was for the transistor which was a team effort with William Shockley and Walter H. Brattain In 1972 I shared the Nobel Prize in physics with the American physicists Leon Cooper and John Schrieffer for the development of a theory to explain superconductivity, the disappearance of electrical resistance in certain metals and alloys at temperatures near absolute zero.
