Blur go it alone on 'Bugman' remix duties

By RICHARD JOHN-- JAM! Showbiz

In a 'shades of Kiss' moment, each member of Blur has taken it upon themselves to remix 'Bugman' for the band's upcoming single 'Coffee & TV'

'Coffee & TV', to be released on Food/EMI in the UK June 28, is the second single off the band's latest album '13' and follows the lengthy gospel single 'Tender'.

As with Kiss - where each member released a solo album - the four Blur mixes will be independent of one another and showcase each member's influences. According to the NME, the mixes range in style from salsa and krautrock to faux Duran Duran.

The only previous remix work undertaken by the band was for the 'Angel' single by Massive Attack.

The track listing for the single is as follows:

CD1:
'Coffee & TV'
'Bugman (Trade Stylee)' - remixed by bassist Alex James
'Bugman (Metal Hip)' - remixed by guitarist Graham Coxon

CD2:
'Coffee & TV'
'Bugman (X-Offender)' - remixed by vocalist Damon Albarn and Control Freaks
'Bugman (Coyote)' - remixed by drummer Dave Rowntree

According to NME, all four remixes will appear on a promo 12". No word on whether photos of the band in Kiss style make up will accompany the release.
