I had a similar experience with MDG ( the same fucking location) last year
around this time..I purchased a new Pentium II 266 Mhz computer...I
requested 64 MB of ram, an Asus motherboard, Sound blaster 64 gold, 56k USR
Modem, 15" Monitor and a Matrox 4 MB mystique video card.
The contract price came to $3,600 + tax. They asked for a deposit and so I
put $200 down.
When I got the computer...the guy who put it together gave me a shit Tomato
motherboard....with built in sound blaster 16...., 33.6K non upgradable USR
modem, and a shit 15" Daytek digital monitor which broke down 2 months later
( I took it back and they gave me some shit old 15" Daytek analog monitor
which can barely muster 60 Hz at 1024 X 768) In addition he only gave me 16
MB of memory.
When I questioned him...that I ordered 64 MB of memory...he tried to charge
me another $220 on top of the contracted price....I had to argue with him
and the sales person to get him to give me that 64 MB of ram with on extra
cost. When I questioned him about the sound card...and the motherboard..he
told me that they could not get the Asus motherboard and that since the
Tomato motherboard had a sound blaster 16...there would be a conflict and
that he would deduct $100 off the contract price. As for the 33.6K modem..
the sales person said that it was upgradable to a 56K and that all I have to
do is to download the ROM off of the USR web site for free...
It came down to a decision where...If I did not except the deal...I would
loose $200. Or If I did except it..I would be getting a shit system with a
$100 rebate off the contract price.. So I DECIDED TO TAKE the system since I
really need one right away.
It would seem that they are trying to rip people off everywhere. I support
your effort to sue MDG. I hope that you win and I hope that MDG will go
bankrupt for good.
