DINKYPAD SKETCHES

FREE TIME GONE BAD

I own a Palm Pilot. It's a handheld computer, about the size of an audio cassette. You input into it by writing on the screen with a pen-like stylus.
On this Palm Pilot, I have a program called Dinkypad. It's a simple drawing program. Every now and then when I'm waiting for something or just otherwise really bored, I'll open up Dinkypad and start randomly sketching into it. Over time, I've accumulated about a hundred or so images in Dinkypad, and some of them are pretty good. I've taken the best of those images and converted them to GIF format and put them up here.

Out of all of these pictures, I think these three are the best. They portray a girl I used to know named Mercedes. She was a very pretty, very vulnerable girl, and I think that comes through in these three pictures of her. I've always wanted to add a background to the one on the right, but I didn't have time to, and now I like it the way it is and I don't want to potentially ruin an already good picture by adding something to it. I've also been told that her nose looks like a pig-nose, but I have trouble looking at it that way. I guess some people just don't appreciate good art. ;-)

These two are drawings of a couple of my coworkers. The one on the left is Steve, drawn while we were in Los Angeles waiting for another of our coworkers to go to dinner. The one on the right is Adam, drawn in Vermont while were we at a resturant for dinner, waiting for our meals. Steve looks less "French" than the drawing of him does, but I guess the drawing of Adam is pretty much dead-on what he really looks like.
