T100X Batteries
-- EXPOSED!
Thanks to rwehlerman@iquest.net,
who provided the photos. He writes:
"There seems to be a lot of interest regarding the T100x battery
pack and its internal construction. Mr. Jable has more than adequately
described the internal layout in one of the tech notes. Attached is a scanned
image in JPEG format of the battery pack showing both sides which you might
find useful. I was also able to open the battery pack without any major
damage to the case. In my case two of the individual cells were bad. I
have not been able to find a source for nickel-metal hydride batteries
yet. If you would prefer the image in some other format or resolution please
let me know..".

The old battery thread
for your inspection...

I had one battery pack go bad - there are three rows of two each
with a diode between first and second row and an overtemperature cutout
between the second and third. There is also a thermister inside the pack
separately connected to two of the battery pack pins.

I did not destroy case. Slide a small knife into one side and
slowly worked my way around the case popping it loose.
- The batters are nickel -metal hydride (1.2V) and each have
HR marked on one end. This stands for High Capacity - Rapid Charge ( I
think).
- You could replace them with the same type which is what I will probably
do but with lithium ion might be a little trouble and more expensive. Lithiums
usually have twice the voltage for the same size battery (3V) and I am
not sure how the T100X would work with 9 volts and possibly a different
charging impedence. I will probably just replace the defective cell (I'm
frugal).

NiCd batteries are usually rated something like 1.25V compared to
the standard 1.5V for similar non-rechargable batteries, so I wouldn't
be surprised if NiMH batteries also supply a lower voltage.

*may* have some batteries. http://www.powerline-battery.com
has the following: (a) LTO0133H- this is the original battery and (b) LTO0133H-
This is an accessory battery that fits onto the original battery. It extends
the size of footprint of the computer. I don't really know (b) but that's
the description they gave me.
