The Gold Temple.

A closer view.

The Silver Temple.

Heian Jingu Shrine.

Looking out over Kyoto in the evening as seen from Jishu Jinja Shrine.
Kyoto Tower is visible in the center.
|
Yukari poses at the guard rail of a cliff she told me was a popular
place to commit suicide. Don't jump, Yukari!
|
Jishu Jinja is the guardian shrine of Kiyomizudera Temple, which enshrines
the God of Love. This is a popular place for girls to buy charms
for good luck in love, and it also houses the Love Stone. If you
can walk between the two stones with your eyes closed, your wish of love
will come true.

This was the menu at a place we ate that evening. I don't think
their English translation is quite right...
|
Yum! Yum!
|
The next day, which was my final day in Japan, Hiro took Yukari and
me to Uji City. This is Ibyodoin Temple...
|
...which appears on the Japanese 10 Yen piece.
|
We attended a tea ceremony in Uji City.
|
The Uji City area is famous for its tea, so we went to a tea shop for
some tasting and for me to buy some to take home.
|
This is a miniture bonzai garden that Hiro made and had decorating
his home's entryway.
|
Sayoonara! Mari, Hiro, and Yukari wave goodbye as my bus for
Kansai Airport leaves Kyoto.
