Hello, welcome to the Vintage Macintosh Clvb! The VMC is a one-bit web site that talks about vintage (who said obsolete?) Macintosh computers, not about the technical aspects, but form a user's point of view. We talk about vintage Mac hardware, software, and how the Macintosh affect us (the "rest of us") emotionally as well. What do I mean by "vintage" Macs? Everything from the first 128k Macintosh up to the Classic II. I always welcome reader's contribution. If you love vintage Macs and want to share your thoughts with the world, get writing and e-mail me a piece or two. Also, if you have any comments about the site, please e-mail me. However, do not ask me technical questions like how to upgrade the RAM, etc, 'cause I don't have a clue! For those questions, subscribe to the Classic Mac Mailing List. If you also have a Macintosh web site, tell me about it, and I'll include a link in the Finder section. |

December 27, 1998. Sorry for not having updated the site for so long. I've now completely redesigned the site so that it is even more one-bit compliant. I've designed the icons entirely by myself, to give a more unique identity for the VMC but at the same time retaining the classic Macintosh look and feel. Hope you like it. I've added two new articles to the site. One is about the ImageWriter II printer, the other is about SuperPaint 2.0. I've also updated the links page. I've transferred and edited the guestbook entries to the MacTalk section, so the guest book will start fresh again. All articles from all sections are now accessed from the "Desktop," which is like a magazine contents page. This way of linking is like having "aliases" on the desktop, without having to go to the "folders" to get to what you want. This is definitely easier for readers as well as for me to update, but I'm not sure how it works in terms of the design and the interface yet. Tell me what you think. I'm considering moving the whole site under my institute's server, so that the download speed will be faster and there's no Geocities sponsor windows. I'm not sure about it yet, since it is not a permanent location. But I did put up a version of the VMC site on that server. That version uses frames, Javascript and animations. It was my assignment for my "Designing for Interactivity" course, and it was a requirement that we use frames. It is not a complete site, but I'm thinking of completing it and running both at the same time. I really like its design and interface. Go and check it out and tell me what you think. [Do you like the animated icons?] I might just leave the frames version there and keep the one-bit version in Geocities. By the way, check out my other assignment too. Enjoy the new VMC. Yours,
