The Venerable Khenpo Gyurmed Trinley Rinpoche is a highly revered Dzogchen master, a skilled and exceptionally well-trained and knowledgeable teacher, a Chöd-pa, a monk, and an important scholar in the Nyingma school of Tibetan Buddhism (as well as being trained and knowledgable in the Kagyu, Shakya, and Gelugpa schools, and in the entire breadth and depth of Buddhism in all of its wonderful forms, including both practice and philosophy) and his students think of him as an embodiment of Avalokitéshvara himself. Khenpo-la's fine qualities are apparent to anyone willing to see them. At a very early age, Khen began training at His Holiness Dudjom Rinpoche's monastery at Tso Pema. After leaving Tibet, Khenpo trained under the guidance of the Venerable Tsondru Rinpoche in Dehra Dun, India. Khen Rinpoche later received his advanced (Khenpo) degree from Sanskrit University (founded by His Holiness the Dalai Lama), where he later taught. He is in Nepal for the next month or two, teaching the monks at Ka-Nying Shedrup Ling Monastery, of which Chökyi Nyima Rinpoche is Abbot. He will then return to Delhi, India for a while, but will return to the U.S. this year. His U.S. students hope it will be sooner rather than later.
