Life

Who am I?
I am the seasons as they pass
remembering the unforgiving past
dreaming of the future
and living in a time that never is.
I am the sun when it shines
beautiful in every way
I am everywhere at once
yet hard to see.

I am the water as it flows
in streams from mountains high
converging into one
a torrent of unknown.

I am the ground beneath your feet
holding steady and true
except for every now and then
when I break.

I am behind song and laughter
I'm in every tear that's cried
I live in inspiration
I am the question and the why.

I am a living being
the miracle of life
one among the millions
who must one day die.

Who am I?
I am the person passing by
I am the man behind the counter
the child at your feet
I am the woman getting closer
to a dream that never died
I am the only answer
to a never-ending why.

Untitled (previously: Darkness)

What is silence
but that which can't be heard
an all encompassing stillness
taking precedence over word.

What is it you see
so much stock is put in sight
our worlds revolve around
little reflections of light.

When the darkness closes in
do not fear, child!
when the air seems to suffocate
and your fantasies run wild.

For darkness is nothing
but the absence of light
and silence masquerading
as never-ending night.

"Like Windows to The Soul"

Eyes
are like windows to the soul
like the ever fading glow
of embers from a fire.

Eyes
can hold anger with a stare
could be tranquil pools of care
overflow with thoughts of love.

Eyes
hold our very sparks of life
let us know that we're alive
connect us to the world.

Eyes
They don't have to see to show
every little thing they know
or to tell what they believe.

Eyes
they're like windows to the soul
and as I look at you, I know
that your seeing right through me.

Nothing Yet

Sometimes I just don't understand
how this all came to be
when did our lives slip through our hands
and become our enemy.
There are times I cannot help but think
that maybe we're all wrong
what makes some teeter on the brink
while others become strong.

How many people reach out to help
the innocent and weak?
How many dare to care about
the hopeless or the meek?
