The Dove

The dove lays silently in the grass,
Her thoughts descend upon her en masse.
Soft is the night, so why so tough?
Darkness can hurt, why play so rough?
Long be the night, she wonders still,
Should peace be granted, should life be ill?
Softly she sleeps and rests so deep,
She prays the lord, her soul to keep,
And dreaming of joyous love so strong,
She stirs, and wakes, to sing a song,
She sings her heart, and of her true soul,
She sings of evil, dark as coal,
"Peace will bring harmony strong,
Love will bring, my souls true song "
She feels the breeze upon her wings,
She thinks of night, as she sings.
She feels hate, fouling the land,
She beats her wings, and travels far.
In search of a place, without hate,
She sees more land, ruined by such tar
And comes back empty, truly late
Black and foul, alone and pure,
The peace of death be a strong lure
But on she goes from day to day,
Living with light, waiting to say,
"I've found at last the peace within,
Nows the time for life to begin,
What she sees not, is standing still,
She's not filling, her souls true will.
Find she must the road of life,
Be it of joy, or of strife.
And she will move and balanced be
Rightness will come, and she will see.

It goes so true as day and night,
We sing it always, the song so bright.
Our soul does sing, if we choose to hear,
On we must listen year to year,
If we stray it guides us back,
And it will teach us what we lack,
Time for joy and time for love,
Peace within, true as the dove.

Within the Ring

Come Near My Son and I Shall Tell
Of Mischief that will Do quite well
To fill your soul with music true
And Maybe see life as a new
Adventure waiting to be sung
By some great bard while he is young
Enter now my story with me
Come to my world, Come Sing with me!

When I Was young I traveled much
And saw the forestland and such
I Know all the tales from near and far
The stories and songs of peace and war
But hear now a tale of my past
So listen well and I shall cast
A Magic song and you will see
All that this wondrous world can be...

Softly I walk through the wood
When I noticed that I stood
Within a circle of the fae
I knew they’d come some time that day
Knowing how futile leaving would be
I sat down beneath an old oak tree
While sitting there I sang a song
Bout times of old, of stories long
Of peace and beauty, joy and bliss
Of soft true love, one long true kiss
And then my hostess show’d herself
She was so sweet, a lady elf
“Your song,” said she “it touched me so
An thus I came quickly and lo!
You sit singing here, and do not tire
But I must take you down to my sire”
“Sweet maid said I, I see you must,
You should not break your sires trust
So I’ll come with you to your hill
Lead on my maid, I’m at your will”

So we walked together there
Elf and I, what an odd pair
Then at the bottom of the hill
A Door sprang open at her will
And so inside we quickly strode
The closing door danger forbode
An audience chamber there I stood
Elf maiden then I hope’d she would
Stand and help me in my plight
Her father there, she took flight
And ran off down some hall
As if to heed some silent call.
Then I alone with Elf King be
My lyre beside me he could see
I made as if to offer to play
But before I did the King did say
“Stranger you be, Came in the ring
Why sat thou’st there, why did thee sing?
You surely knew your time was o’er
Why didn’t you run to live some more?”
“I stumbled into your land
Then foresaw that your deft hand
Would catch me quickly should I flee
Why should I run? As you can see
It was Simpler to sit and sing
A song of love within your ring
And wait for your maid to come
Her heart is pure, not like some
I’ve seen in my past
And then at last
She came to me there and she did seem
Like some lady, come from a dream
And bid me come with her here
So I came swiftly without fear.
So here I am, and now we must speak
We have a problem, I’ll not be meek.
So on to business my Elven Friend
You see I would rather my life not end
As you would have it so
So I will play and then I’ll go.”

“Oh No!” Sang King, Quite loud and clear
“You’ll play my fill, have no fear
But leave you won’t O’er my land tread
You, when I say you will be led
To be dealt with, a way not crude
We Elven folk be not so rude
As you Men are. So when I Say
You will go and then you will lay
Quietly Within the Lair of Death.
Tis there you’ll breathe your one last breath
True peace will come upon you then
Thus you will pay for your great sin.”

“Oh my liege I fear you’re wrong
For I know and have for long
A secret which you work hard to hide
How Elves love to dance, deep down inside.”
And so I strummed, began to play
A lively dance, from the old day
The king jumped up, as I knew he must
He began to dance, and then he cussed

Elves from all around the hill
Jumped up and danced, at my will
They jumped around and played Gaily
Joy like this, seen not there daily
Then entered my maid, sweet and fair
She danced in joy, without a care
And sang along in her own tongue
I listened and grinned as she sung
A love song true and soft and bright
She seemed to shimm’r in radiant light.
I softened and slowed the song slightly
So I may speak to Elf King rightly
Said I to King “Now I will leave
Out of your realm ’fore morrow eve.
Now open a Gate or dance much more
I’ll can make thee dance till all be sore”
He open’d a doorway through the wall
And I strode toward it proud and tall
I took the hand, of lady elf
Kissed it quick, in spite of myself
Then took the door and out I flew
Fast as an arrow Straight and true.

Stopping only outside the ring
Then once again did I sit and sing
This time a song of love forgot
Of tender nights and all, but not
Sweet true love
Come from above.
Then once again Elf maid be there
I asked her why she had come for fear
She’d try to save her fathers face.
At first she stood fragile as lace
Then she spoke, so soft to me
That her heart could only see
Me. Myself and my song.
Sire though, thought it wrong
He would not let her leave his house
Without an elfling, princely spouse
I sighed and spoke to her that night,
Told her she was a lovely sight
but what she wished could never be
Elf and man, the match can not be
“My child you’ll live many hundred years,
And I only a few. Cry no tears.
For tis not true love you feel for me
But passion and rapture. Can you see?
Our love would die in short time
Love untrue be a cruel crime
So let us part my sweetling elf
Kiss me goodbye then take yourself
Back to thy King, tell him I’m gone
And so I’ll be, Long before dawn.”
She Dinnae seem pleased with my thought,
But still she realized that she ought.
Most likely for fear of scorn.
As I could tell her mind was torn.
She left me then and on I went
And never again met an elf sent
To take me from where I be.
Never sure am I if she remembers me
But I hope she doesn’t for it too
Unkind for her to ‘member me and rue
The love the thought that I did scorn
The loss of it she should not mourn
T’would ruin her forever more
Heart always unfairly sore

My life is done and filled with light
I played my games, I had my night
My love and losses, cares and woes
My joys and pains, friends and foes
And thus dear friend my stories done
Go out and dance or bask in the sun
For life is long if you be true
To the perfect immortal soul in you.

Memories of one passed away

Alone we are and in peace we be
but looking in the pool there we see
shadows of the world gone by
and then we sit, and wonder why?
why did you leave me alone my love?
when out flew my peace, gone like a dove
out the window, alone i'm here
looking in this pool, playing the seer
memories of you float by
i see that sparkle in your eye
the radiant light, and a smile
hiding beneath expressions of wile
love true, and strong and bright
but then you left, And I in night
went out to see you leave me behind
and i turn'd away sorrys, from all the kind
souls who came to give me peace
as if their words could pull the fleece
over my eyes, that i might not see
that forever gone you are from me

so back i am, looking at you here
when out from the woods there stepped a deer
who's chestnut tone walked to the pool
and nudged me away, as if twere cruel
for me to member you this way
then did i remember you say
one time long ago, telling me of your heart
and you remember your kiss then, gentle and tart
were your lips, and soft were your eyes,
and then you said, that the mind lies
to us about what we need to feel
and that if the heart listened it would reel
away in disgust at what we do
to loves, that have gone to
the new world, where they should be
at peace, if we let our heart think we would see
that missing them, and begging them back
is keeping them from peace, that we lack
but wish we had, and will one day
and so there, still i lay
and gazed at the deer who drank in the pool
where once there werereflections of you, ripples now rule.
and content i am, to love you still,
but i miss you not, for t'would make us both ill
you being kept, from peace and light
keeping myself from joy, and not leaving the night

but now, i smile, and call to you
and know that i love you, still and true
but know you're there loving me back
there is no points of which we keep track
only our love, and what we shared
the lives we lived, the joys we dared
good night my love, the day is dawning
and after all this though, i am a yawning
so i will sleep, and wake a new
person always, living life true
