You were offered peace,
a chance to lay down your burden,
and yet you stayed.
Duty has compelled you
down through the years:
defend the children
until they stand unaided.
Now, at last
the time has come again.
The offer is made-
What will you choose?

Run
I dreamed myself
in a forest, running.
Howls force me on.
Midnight finds me
torn and trembling,
I can flee no more.
I turn at bay,
and See the Huntsman,
I know my end has come.
In his eyes,
a fire burns-
and lights his face for me.
He laughes,
holding out a hand,
with Him I must go.
Joining the pack,
I howl for joy
and wonder why I was afraid.
Thistle
Doc Krogman
He struts up front, babbling
Pearls drop from his lips.
"Relativism is incoherent."
And
"Would you kill the child? Be consistent."
I used to think I knew
What I thought I knew.
God my head hurts.
Thistle
Two Trees
Two trees stood guard for years
So many depended on you for so long.
I barely knew you.
Did you know the blows were coming?
Sharp blades took you from us.
Where will we travel,
Without you to guide us home?
We'll miss you.
Thistle
Leaving
I stand quietly
Watching my friends grow up.
They lean on me,
Then leave me behind.
Of course- that's why I'm here.
Do they ever look back,
Ever think of me?
The seasons turn,
I shed my leaves.
