Ricky Maveety ...
Born in New Mexico in 1952, I lived there until I was 8 years old, at which time my mother, my sister and I all moved to San Diego, California.
In 1970, I left San Diego to attend UCLA, and stayed there (except for a short period living in the Sierras at Mammoth Lakes) for the next 18 years. During that period I was either working at one of the hospitals or research facilities in the Los Angeles area, and concentrating on immunohematology.
In 1984, while working at the Los Angeles Chapter of the American Red Cross, I attended Loyola University of Los Angeles Law School, and after graduating and passing the California Bar Exam, I moved back home to San Diego. I've been working as an attorney (first for a medium sized firm, then a humongous firm, and now in solo practice) ever since.
I live with six cats, named (in age order from oldest to youngest) Winston, Morgan, Cameron, Gordon, Madison and Allison. They are without a doubt the most entertaining characters I have ever lived with. Each came to me as a rescue, some with physical injuries or illnesses, and some with emotional problems.
This road trip is actually the first long vacation I have taken since the cats came into my life, starting with my dear departed Newton who came to live with me in 1992. I have a site online about Newton and Winston that I need to update. It includes Newton's Diary and the Weekly Caterwaul (which was his cat newspaper). The site is Newton's Alley.
