I was looking around in some grain bins at my house when I found a nifty chair that could fly. I got in this chair and started flying around. I flew off down Lover's Lane, an old road near my house that is lined by trees on each side. All the fallen branches and stuff had been recently cleaned out. The trees were trimmed back and the grass was mowed. The scene was very pretty. I was zooming down Lovers Lane on my flying chair and it felt really cool. There were covered bridges put in over creeks that crossed the road. I would fly through them except I almost hit my head on the first one (there were 3). Towards the end of the lane were three barracades that had signs on them saying "WARNING: LANE ENDS AHEAD". I didn't see the first one in time and I smashed through it. I caught my foot on the second one and by the time I got to the third one I had pulled up completely so I didn't hit it. At the end of the lane was a dock leading into a lake. To the northeast of the lake (the lane lies east to west) was a huge white plantation style house. It was in almost perfect condition. Standing on the dock was Gretchen.

I landed my chair and she started telling me that when the workers began clearing out Lovers Lane, they found this house engulfed by trees. Then she went in to the history of the house. "Back in the 1800's, this house was built by some wealthy landowner. But soon after, Nebraska declared itself a free territory, so this landowner abandoned the house and moved to Missouri where he could keep slaves. Since the house was abandoned and there was no one there to control the vegetation, the trees and moss just grew up around the house. The moss and the trunks and canopy of the trees kept the house almost immune to the weather and decay." And now since the house is on our land, my family owned it so they decided to build this lake and make a pretty little scene. Then we went to my house because her mom was there talking to my mom.

At my house, the four of us and my dog sat around on a patio. We all sat and just talked about stuff that I can't remember and I doubt it was significant. Then I remembered that I was going to give her a copy of the Planarian Man comic book, so I went inside to get it. When I gave it to her, she totally freaked out like I gave her a car or something. Then she gave me one of her senior pictures. Then I looked at the clock and it was 6:45 and I was supposed to be at Hinky Dinky for work at 6:00. Gretchen came in to the Dink to get groceries and I was the only carry out so I had to carry out for her. She asked me if I wanted to "take a cruise" and I said yes so we did. We were going east on 14th street and passed a yellow house that was just east of the Family Health Center. On their mailbox, they had a Planarian Man on a swing ornament and I asked her if she saw it. She didn't so she went down 14th to P, went on P to 16th, went on 16th to Q, and then turned back on to 14th street. She parked her car along 14th even with the driveway that goes down to the baseball fields where they set the bleachers. I sat in the car while she ran up the hill to the house. There were a lot of kids running around and playing in the yard south of the High School. I got out and watched when a guy that looked like the Hispanic member of All-4-One walked up to me and said "Gimme the keys to this Mercedes, man." I told him it was a Honda and he said "I don't care. Give me the keys man or I'll Swiss you." He pulled out a Swiss Army Knife and pointed it at me. I didn't really want to die so I gave him her car keys. Then he threw the knife at me and I was stabbed. I reached over to where the knife landed but he beat me to it. Then he threw it at me again, and again I was stabbed and again I reached for it and again he beat me to it. This happened several times until finally I grabbed it before he did. I was fumbling around with it, trying to fold out the blade part of the knife but all I could find was a spoon and I remember thinking "Oh no! A swiss army spoon is not a deadly weapon!" Then he said "Enough" and pulled out a 1920's style Gatling machine gun. Then three guys that all looked like Lou Diamond Phillips walked up to him all carrying machine guns. All four of them opened fire on the crowd of people. I was running away and got hit in the leg so I fell to the ground. My eyes were closed but I could hear the Lou Diamond Phillips people walking up to me. They said quietly "Hold still so Vinnie thinks you're dead. That way we won't have to kill you." I stayed still and they left. A few minutes later Gretchen came back from looking at the ornament and asked if I was ok. Then we walked over to the payphone that is by the track so I could call the Dink and try to explain why I left. When we got over there there was also a payphone by the driveway to the track, a phone by the big sign along the highway, and a payphone in the back of a truck that was pulling in to the parking lot. The phone was not a good one so we just went to the Dink. Gretchen left me so I could go back to work.

The next morning my mom told me to go down to one of our sheds and figure out how to hotwire this car that was sitting there. When I got down there, Gretchen was sleeping in the shed. She told me that she got in a fight with Gabe Stairs' mom, so she ran away from home and stayed in our shed. So she helped me hotwire the car.
