Peter Schmidt (AKA Schmidts-Pit) is the designer of the Flying Fish kite. Peter is a well-known german kite builder; visit his web site to see more of his remarkable kites as well as plans for building some of them.

Peter built this kite in 2002 and won 2nd place in the german national kite championship. While he was teaching a class at the 2003 Fort Worden Kitemakers Conference he generously donated this kite to the raffle and I had the good fortune to win it.

The kite flys well in medium winds. If the wind is gusty it does need a lot of space though. As you can see in one of the photos the tail can twist in relation to the body, causing it to veer off to one side.

Technical Specs: A bowed kite with 3 bow tension lines and a single bridle point.
