This is a large version of the classic indian fighter kite. The one you see here departs from the traditional tissue paper and bamboo construction by using tape-reinforced Mylar for the skin. It's a genuine indian product, imported by Stafford Wallace. Because of its size, it's slower and less jittery than the more common, smaller version. What surprised me was that the kite is perfectly balanced, even though the bow is not completely symmetrical. Look at the rear view: you can see that the bow is distinctly more pronounced on the left side. I drew up a plan (16K) by taking measurements from this kite. I couldn't accurately measure the bow length, so you'll just have to size it to fit the other dimensions. Try it - these little kites are so much fun. |
