My cat stalks
the bath towels hanging on their rods
as if they hide
the elusive butterfly
that wafted itself up the warm currents of new spring air
to show off its powdery gilded wings for
the tenants who
live far above the reaches of
the flower bordered paths below
where the more fortunate cats hide amongst the hedges
to stalk
their own imaginary
flying prey.
