A Level Physics ALTERNATING CURRENTS Vector treatment of alternating voltages and currents.

PHASORS
The variation of current with time in an A.C. circuit can be represented by a rotating vector, of length Imax. It has steady angular velocity w, and its vertical component at any time is equal to the current in the circuit. I = I0 Sin( w t ). A similar diagram can be drawn for voltage.
