"Aun aprendo", a quote from Goya, who late in his life learned the then new process of Lithography. In February 1819 ,Goya made his first attempt with Old Woman Spinning at the firm of the first lithogrphic establishment open in Madrid, Spain by José María Cardano. Goya made brush drawings in lithographic ink and this was transferred to the stone. Lithography was discovered around 1800 by Aloys Senefelder in Germany, then used in Paris, France around 1816, and three years later used in Madrid.
