Ken Ceterski Wins At The North Bay International Open

The North Bay International Open was held at North Bay, Ontario during the first week of August. The tournament was held on a beautiful university campus, with hiking trails behind the campus. Before the tournament, the tournament directors warned people about encounters with bears on the trails. This year over three hundred players participated with twenty percent of the tournament were from the US and five percent of the tournament were female. People participated from eighteen different countries including Russia and Cuba. There were eight rounds, the time limit was forty moves in two hours, sudden death in one hour. Sections were divided up every two hundred rating points. There were two games a day with an hour in between the rounds. There was also a huge skittles board outside. The Open Section was very strong with five GM's and 18 IM's. The whole Ceterski Family played in the tournament. Tom Ceterski played in the under 2200 section, Justin played in the under 2000 section, and Martha and Ken played in the under 1600 section. Ken ended up with 5 wins, 1 draw, and 2 losses. He finished in fifth place and winning $150.00 Canadian.
