discovered the work of African scholars like Chiekh Anta Diop,
John Henrik Clark, Dr. Yosef ben-Jochannan, Theophile Obenga and more.
Our community can only benefit by learning more about our past.
Many major contributions have been made to the world, by African people.

Business
The African American community needs to pay special
attention to supporting and developing a community based
business sense.
Most of us would be surprised at the buying power that
we represent. I don't have the figures but one has
only to look at the mainstream media ads directed at black
people, to get the idea. These ad campaigns can run into the
millions. No one is spending that kind of money to get the patronage
of our people without expecting a very good return?
The time is now, and the means are more available than
ever before to begin networking to create a solid base
for business in our community. We must begin to train
or obtain training for our young people and we must actively
seek out members of our community that have already got
some momentum going and encourage them.
I could go on and on about this matter but that's not
what I'm trying to do right here. I will be saying more on
this subject and in the future I will need your input.

Genealogy
This section is the first major new addition since the nineties.
Genealogy is one area where we can learn many things about our history
as well as the obvious bonus of discovering our ancestors. The internet
has brought us to the point where much of our preliminary research can
be done online.
The internet also brings us the opportunity to meet and exchange data
with distant family members. My family comes from Virginia and Maryland
and I've been able to trace my ggggrandparents Charles Evans b. 1790
and Susan Prior Evans b. 1805. without leaving my computer. I'll admit
I did have their names, but the internet has taken me to a new level
when it comes to finding family members.

I'll start with Ancestry.com because it's very difficult to search
on the web without crossing paths with this organization. They come under many
banners as the new reseacher soon finds out. They have many free offerings but
I recommend taking out a subscritpion in the beginning and using the info you
find in your more detailed research. Many of the U.S. census data from 1930
back to 1700 is indexed and searching is daily getting easier and more efficient.

Audio and Podcasts
There will always be more things to see and hear on
the net. I hope I am able to keep up with the changes.
With my limited budget, it should keep me real busy
just trying . One relatively new thing you can use on a small
budget is Podcasting. Check it out, if you haven't
already. Its good fun and it's getting better.
Podcasting has come on the scene and we are really falling
behind the times. African American's rich verbal tradition will be well served
by this relatively simple form of audio broadcasting. We who have the ability
would do well to pool our knowledge and resources to get our young people into
podcasting ASAP.

is a better value than a new PC. I personally would encourage those with a low
budget to go out and get a blue and white G3 or an older G4 power Mac or a number of those
if you wanted to train a group of young people with a minimun of hassles and a host of perks,
in the form of user friendliness and versatility.
