Upon a Winter's Breeze

I sensed her presence again today
In fact, she sat there next to me
We spoke of the beautiful future
we soon would have
and of treasured memories.

Everlasting love was sworn
and sealed in the tenderness
of our souls.

Her beauty like crystal
clear and bright
Eyes that sparkled, and twinkled
with the coming night.

But with the night as darkness reigns,
even the brightest light must fade
Through fleeting, flickers of embers remain
many a love have lost its way
Foolish hearts must strain in vain
to hold their cherished vision.

In this night she went from me
upon a winter's breeze
Gone was my precious one
although my love still is strong and true.

Please radiant, glorious night
with all your brilliant, splendor
is there no benevolent light in all your starry heavens?

Haunting imagery rips my skull
my essence drifts from me.

The foundation of everything is lost
and with it, hope destroyed.
Astray, my exposed soul lingers
then withers
but knows not enough to die.
Everything I thought myself to be
was whisked away
In that cold winter's night breeze. 1
