It all started with the US KRH86 NYC Reunion ... | |||
Pizzeria Uno: I knew there was one! (Chicago part 1/?) ![]() So, I’ve been to the Unos in the Upper East Side in Manhattan twice, and I still call it Pizzeria Uno. It didn’t help that I went to Wikipedia to check it out, only to find out that the first one (and second) is located, where else? In Chicago. It gnawed on me (OCD symptom?) I just had to go there and see it (and eat there) for myself. Presidents’ Day weekend, kids didn’t want to come along, nice trip out with Nick, why not? Yes, we went all the way out to Chicago just to eat at Pizzeria Uno. Maybe see Marius, maybe see Brod Jess, definitely would see my sorority Sis Johanna. Saturday: February 17, 2007 The drive, according to Google and yahoo directions would take a little less than 12 hours. Hah! About 100 miles into the trip, we find out they closed I-80 in Pennsylvania. For three hours we went through the local roads just to travel the equivalent of 60 miles (should have been around 200 miles). But the point of driving was to see what you wouldn’t see if you flew. I think we just saw too much of the local areas up close. By the time we were on I-80 again and near the Ohio border, it was getting dark. Marius calls to say he was already in Chicago and no major delays to his connecting flight. Drat! Was hoping we’d get there same time as him, whether or not we’d be able to meet. The kewl thing about driving is the time you have to talk without distractions. We talked about stuff: UP, KRH, APB, PDA, TV, the boys’ education, schools, God, gods, church, bible, religions, government, taxes, 9-11, math, science, Newtonian reference frames, highest elevation point along I-80 East of the Mississippi, places along the way we’ve been to, environment, disabilities, power sources, water sources, economics (local, national, and global), occasional cussing at the State of Pennsylvania for delaying our trip, etc. None of these are in order, and there was probably more, and all these were during both ways driving. Will I blog on any of these topics? If I feel like it… Time? Well, let’s just say it took 16 hours to get to the hotel, not 12! 2007-02-22 20:25:29 GMT
