A Second Chance
Poem by Ann Pass
A lot of folks out there
Think wrong of some people in jail
I'm not saying they've commited no crime
Whether they be male or female
But they all have had their punishment
Be if probation, community work, or "inside"
Some, admittedly, don't put themselves right
And further down the ladder do slide
But some need, and deserve,
From all folks, a Second Chance
So don't pass them by, or put them down
Turn, and give them a glance
Turn and put them
On the path that is Right
Give them chance
To simply have the strength to fight
Don't just shrug your shoulders
But go along to hold their hand
And with our strength combined
We all get to the Promised Land.
