Accident Unit
Poem by Ann Pass
Have you ever walked into an accident unit
and laughed as you looked around
then turned your head, and laughed again
behind your hand, without a sound
at people with patches and bleeding heads
with arms and legs in plaster
a little boy, with a pan on his head
Oh, what a disaster!
Well, don't laugh
as they must be in pain
in agony, that I'm sure
they don't wish to have again
and besides, while you're laughing
you may just bump your head
then if you have concussion
it may be a week in bed.............Who will be laughing then?
