ARRO Update...update...update...
The gang at ARRO would like to take this opportunity to wish all members, neighbours, and fellow Bentileans a happy yule, and we hope a very much brighter new year. Maybe it will be at least as good as the Halloween bash supper we did for the kids, on 31st Oct. (We were very busy that day. More later.....)
Carol and I, along with my granddaughter, Sonya, went along to St. Paul's Church to help the congregation plant some bulbs, to make a lovely display for the church's Easter celebrations. Our thanks go to the "Greenstreet" project, headed by Brian Sammons, and his helpers, who picked us from a competition run by Stoke City Council for various sites in the Potteries area to be targets for bulb planting. We were made very welcome by all, and had tea and biscuits on site while planting. Many thanks too to Joan Mellor and the church for looking after us and sending us a Thank You card for our part in bringing it altogether.
On Halloween Eve we did a supper for the local kids, with games and a disco and a fancy dress. The even included face-painting by the multi- talented vice-chair, Carol, and lots of food, burgers, cakes, and pop, and sweets. The kids really enjoyed it, and so did we. It was a little chilly, but we never really noticed, we had such a good time. My thanks go to Carol and hubby Gary for holding open house (and back garden!) for us, and also the neighbours for the food they sent round for the occasion. We finished off with a small firework display and trick-or-treat.
