The Bentilean
Christmas 92
Welcome...
......to the Christmas 92 issue of "The Bentilean" community magazine.
This issue has been plagued by bad luck. What with the place I typeset it at closing down for three weeks while they moved, the person who runs it falling ill, my falling ill, and then some moron deleting the Pagemaker program I use to design the mag off the computer I was using!! This has meant I've had to actually typewriter some bits (apologies to the authors affected), I've had to drop the News n Views page (which has to be left to the last minute by its very nature), and there's not even a Mortimer & Mears comedy sketch this issue! (Huge sighs of relief all round.)
Never mind, a shortage of material was taken care of by the timely intervention of Barbara Jones, Bentilean writer and chair of the Aylesbury Road Residents' Organisaiton, rallyiny her residents and writing the enclosed ARRO four page pullout. My apologies to her that the above mentioned bad luck prevented me from using all the material she wrote. Sorry! The more astute among you will also notice that I've described them as the Aylesbury Road Residents' Association. Opps! Still, there are readers who'd get no pleasure from this mag unless I made the occasional typing error.
Those who're wondering where the proposed Bentilean Micromag is, sorry! it's been all I could do to get this one out. Maybe next issue (but after a year on the "Employment Action" scheme, I'm not making any promises when that'll be).
Finally, many thanks again to Barbara Jones for helping to fill the mag, and welcome to the new writers, Kimberley Jamieson (age 8), Linda Geaney, Julie Turner, Josephine Griffin, and prolific poet, Charlie Barker, who presented me with a wide range of 439 poems to choose from!!
