John Meyers was a man who lives with the scars of his past. His grandfather died when he was very young, and his father soon afterwards. Drawing on this pain, John channeled it into three very successful novels after leaving college. He now resides in Langstrom, Maine, a coastal town towards the lower part of the state. With the fourth novel coming along smoothly and a caring girlfriend, John thought he had finally put the past of his troubled childhood behind him.

Then the Lord of the Night's castle appeared.

No one else could see the towers of this dark fortress as it floated above the water; no one else could hear the chilling cackles eminating from within. Yet there it stood. Waiting. Calling. John's friends thought he was losing his mind. His girlfriend, Lindra, left him. He even began to doubt his own sanity. But then he remembered the last thing his grandfather ever told him--the story of the Nightwalkers.

John's father had refused to let his grandfather tell John of his family's history in anyway other than a bedtime story, and thus the knowledge was incomplete. But he knew enough for what had to be done, and so the tale begins...
