Referred to only as "Guardian" in the first issue and speaking mysteriously of time, Rift will be an enigma for the first two story arcs in Nightwalker. Gradually, more will be learned as he studies Nightwalker for some unknown reason, but the full truth will not be revealed until the third arc, "Heaven's Prisoners."
