Frank Black

The artist formerly known as Black Francis.

Charley Francis (someone with a better Frank Black site than me reckons his real name is Charles Thompson, I don't know who is right but he has short fuzzy hair) was the singer in the Pixies but sadly they are no more. He seems to have got really fat since the Pixies split up, I think he may perhaps be comfort eating. He some times plays with Teenage Fan Club, or so I've heard and he's usually about in England at festival time I think he was at Pheonix this year, was he or am I making it up, bugger I don't know.
Frank Black is different from the Pixies, the Pixies were more noisy and had this sort of 'messed up mexican' style. FB's stuff is really melodic and catchy and well I don't like to say Poppy but it's like he sneeks into pop's back garden in the middle of the night and has a shit on the lawn. Lot's of guitar some that sound like country music in space and some that are very go-y that make you want to jump about and shake your head with a beer bottle in one hand and a cigarillo in the other. The first album was so hot, but the other two are dead, dead good.
FB sings about weird stuff, that doesn't make sense at first and then some of them you start to understand and you realise that he's been watching to much of the X files. It's not really like the Pixies but it's similar to their last album Trompe le monde.
