Greek Trivia CE has been developed through many years of extensive teaching to students of Modern Greek, of all levels, in Australian schools, where Modern Greek is taught. Learning Modern Greek is not simply a matter of learning the alphabet, the grammar and a sufficient vocabulary. Language, or any form of human communication, is related to the process of thinking. In addition to learning the basic language skills, the student of Modern Greek abroad, needs to become familiar with modern Greek thinking. The later is the result of everyday experience and interaction, interweaved with historical, socio-economic, and cultural characteristics of the Greek society.

In order to begin to understand the complexity of modern Greek thinking, therefore, to command the language that expresses this thinking, it is necessary for students to be familiarized with different aspects of modern Greek language and culture. Greek Trivia CE is an e-learning tool to be used in the classroom of Modern Greek, or at home, as well as, an educational tool for anyone interested to improve their understanding of Modern Greece and its people. Each question can be seen as a separate teaching unit, from which the teacher or parent can attempt to expand and enrich the initial information. Students, or all learners, learn better and faster when they are given the opportunity to learn in a learning style they like and feel comfortable with. Greek Trivia CE offers a fun and enjoyable experience, creating a potentially dynamic informational environment for students of Modern Greek abroad.

Greek Trivia CE was originally designed to be played within a small classroom environment of 5-10 students of Modern Greek. Students are usually asked to form two groups and compete with each other, taking turns, until they finish the level. The game is controlled by the teacher who introduces and reads the questions to the group. The learning objective behind each question is for the teacher to develop a discussion with the students about each question, the correct and wrong answers, and the hints where given. Using the board, the teacher can expand on each question in terms of vocabulary, additional information, such as history, geography, current affairs, and so on. Structuring and organizing the information of every question this way, in combination with the repetition process of starting over a level, when a wrong answer is given, forces students to meaningfully memorize, consequently, to retrieve the information in a more efficient and faster way.

The game can alternatively be played outside the classroom with the instruction of a parent, or among a group of people, or, of course, on one's own. Greek Trivia CE consists of 15 levels with 16 questions each. For each correct answer you are awarded a star (first star is free!). A wrong answer takes you at the beginning of the level. Help buttons (25%, 50% and Hint) are available for each question. The 25% button will mark out one wrong answer, the 50% button will mark out two incorrect answers, and the Hint button will provide some help as to what the answer might be. Only one help button is active in each question, and the player can not choose which one. Rolling the mouse over the button will reveal the active help button (indicator light changes to red). Help screens are available throughout the game to remind you how to play the game. Having chosen a help screen during the game, the Exit button (in the Help screen) will take you to the beginning of that level.
