Well, you're in luck! Below is a javascript program* that simplifies this procedure.
Street addresses are specified as East or West, with Fifth Avenue as the dividing line. To find out which major Avenues are nearest to the address you have, enter the number in the box below, and click "East" or "West" as appropriate:
To locate another address, just double-click the box and enter a new number. Then press "East" or "West" again. It's that simple.
The above forms are Javascript programs I painstakingly
created from scratch. Painstaking because of so many bugs that appeared
during their creation and resulting in many stared-ceiling nights. The
people who gave me suggestions on how to correct the bugs on the first
form (On the Avenues) are: Mikie Jan, and two complete strangers
who patiently corresponded with me through the Newsgroup - Bryn Waibel
and Jason Olmsted. Thank you.
After that, the second form (On the Streets) was a bit easier to handle on my own, although it still took me a few weeks to finalize.
