HONEY
by: Kari aka AngelsWhim
Honey was my child
Of long ago my love
Raised on sugar flowers
And apple trees of gold.
Whisper winds of laughter
She played.
I watched her grow.
At night I watched her slumber
She sighed within her sleep.
Bringing back fond memories
Of her father’s love of me.
Whisper soft upon my ear
He vowed his loyalty.
At times she turns so slightly
Just enough that I can see
His loving face within hers
The eyes haunting memory
And nothing could have altered
Of what would come to be.
The drums beat in the distance
The sound grew ever near
They drew my love away from me
And left me alone here
She’ll never know the longing
I feel within my soul.
The days they pass so slowly
To forget him is my goal
But some times Honey smiles
And he is in her stare
The green twinkle eyes shining
The gold lights in her hair.
And in her playful laughter
Like music in the air
I Turn to hilltop haunting
I see him standing there.
I see him watching Honey
A product of our love
He waves to me and smiles
He is still strong and young.
And in my days of aging
I’m tired and grown old
His spirit leaves me empty
Left longing, still and cold.
