FEAR
by: .. Wizzu .. Mikko Hanninen
Simon walked along the path on his way to school.Everything was quiet, but he was afraid. Suddenly he saw a group of boys ahead. Simon turned to run, but there was already someone behind him. His arms were seized behind his back. He tried to fight back, but the hands holding him were too strong, as always.
"Why are you running away, little Simon?" asked the tallest of the boys, obviously the leader. "We just want to talk to you." At that, the whole group started laughing.
"Please let me go," Simon pleaded. The tall boy didn't answer, but instead reached for Simon's school bag. "What have we here? A picture book?" More laughing, as the boy took Simon's drawing book out of the bag. He started to turn the pages, and the group laughed at the pictures.
"Please, put that away," Simon asked.
The leader looked at him. "OK, whatever you want," he said, and threw the book some way into the woods. More laughing. The tall boy turned Simon's bag upside down. All the books fell to the ground. He tossed the bag carelessly away, and started investigating the pile before him. On the top was Simon's lunch box.
"I wonder what you have brought for me?" he said as he lifted the box. He opened it, and a sandwich fell to the ground, but the boy ignored that. Instead, he took out an apple. "Thanks," he said mockingly as he took a bite. "Please," Simon said. The boy looked at him. "This doesn't taste very good anyway," he declared and tossed the apple away. Simon watched helplessly as it rolled to a ditch.
Suddenly Simon was pushed sharply, and he fell face down. The group was laughing, as they left. Some deliberately stepped on his books. "We will see again, in the afternoon!" was the call that he heard as he started to rise.
Simon started to pick up his things. His lunch was gone, but the drawing book was fortunately intact. As he started to walk again towards school, he thought about the journey home.
With fear.
