Portrait of Hope
by: Jilli
"Giver of Light"
Hope is a lady, in the grandest use of the term. Her boundaries are set firmly and her behavior is based on the book of rules of 'Ladylike Decorum.'
I see her in a green meadow, just walking from the shade of a large tree, a light wind blowing her thin white loose summer dress around her. She is wearing one of those light straw hats with small white flowers on one side, she has on white summer gloves. One hand rest atop her hat so the wind won't sweep it away, the other holds a small bouquet of wild flowers, given to her by her loving husband. She's smiling and cheerful.
There is a radiance shining forth from her and I know this is her abundant love and kindness, edged with her wonderful humor. Some instinct gives her the ability to always know what to say to make you smile. She gives freely of herself, to her family and friends, yet remembers that she is a person also and doesn't let herself suffer neglect.
Hope is a giver who has taught herself to receive also.
Her talent for writing blended with her ability to share her love produces wonderful poetry and stories. She is self-disciplined and emotionally strong. A gifted writer with a broad range of ability.
We on the club channel used to tease Hope about her goodbyes when she said she was leaving. They used to take not less than ten minutes, with us all saying farewell at least half a dozen times after the annoucement of her departure. One day when we were teasing her ..I felt the love and admiration we all shared for Hope, flowing warmly among us and expressed through our teasing manner. You have to be comfortable and at ease with a person to joke with them as we do Hope. It was as if our respect and admiration for this lady elicited our humorous teasing, in effect saying,
"We love and admire you Hope."I would use lots of yellows and white and a little muted green in Hope's portrait.
